What is PydanticAI?
Pydantic AI is a Python AI SDK that provides a type-safe, extensible agent loop, and models can be swapped by changing just a string. The same agent can run behind a web frontend, in a terminal, on a voice call, in a durable background queue, in GitHub Actions, and more. Image generation and embeddings are included, while Pydantic Graph (typed control flow) and Pydantic Evals (testing agent behavior) are separate packages. Pydantic AI Harness adds features for long-running tasks such as memory, guardrails, subagents, planning, context management, and persistence.
- Type-safe, extensible agent loop
- Supports many model providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google
- Real-time voice (speech-to-speech) agents
- Image generation and embeddings
- Pydantic AI Harness, which adds memory, guardrails, sub-agents, and planning
- Durable execution with Temporal, DBOS, Prefect, and more
- MCP clients and servers
- Pydantic Evals for evaluation and Pydantic Graph
