What is gastown?
Gas Town is a workspace manager that coordinates multiple AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, and Gemini, so each works on a different task. It keeps work state in git-based Hooks so agents don't lose context when they restart. A Claude Code instance called the 'Mayor' acts as the overall coordinator, with projects managed as Rigs and worker agents as Polecats. It states that it scales comfortably to 20-30 agents.
