What is SAM 2?
SAM 2 is the first unified model to segment objects in both images and videos, letting you select the object you want with clicks, boxes, or masks. A per-session memory module tracks objects across all video frames, using information from earlier frames even when an object is briefly occluded. Its streaming architecture processes frames one at a time, enabling real-time interaction. Meta has released the pretrained models, the SA-V dataset, a demo, and code.
