What is JetBrains Junie?
Junie is a coding agent made by JetBrains that runs in JetBrains IDEs, the terminal (CLI), and headless mode in CI/CD scripts. It is built on the IntelliJ IDEA engine and supports more than 10 models via BYOK, planning with a strong model and implementing with a fast model to reduce cost. Before touching code, it writes a plan containing requirements, design, and steps, and you can change its direction mid-task or require human approval for major actions. It also runs in GitHub issues and PRs (GitHub Action) and in GitLab CI/CD, and with remote mode you can check on a task started on a laptop from your phone. It offers free Junie Lite and BYOK, and you increase usage with a JetBrains AI subscription (AI Pro, AI Ultimate).
