What is Phi-3?
Phi-3 is a family of open AI models developed by Microsoft. In the Ollama library, the 3.8B (Mini) and 14B (Medium) sizes can be downloaded and run locally. Phi-3 Mini was trained on synthetic data and filtered public web data, and went through supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and direct preference optimization (DPO). It comes in 4K and 128K context versions. It is designed for memory- and compute-constrained environments, latency-sensitive situations, math and logical reasoning, and applications that need long context.
