Sageunjin is a small beach in Anhyeon-dong, Gangneung. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, it has 600 m of sand and sits directly next to Gyeongpo Beach. A wide stretch of sand is backed by pine trees, and there are changing rooms, drinking water points and parasols. The name is said to come from a man who came to sell pottery, settled here, and made his living by fishing and selling pots from a small boat. It is a handy stop if you are walking Gyeongpo and want a quieter patch of sand.
More visitors in 2024 than in any other year since 2015
Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries figures show 18,375 visitors in 2015, falling to 6,637 in 2020. The count then climbed to 20,116 in 2023 and 25,240 in 2024, the highest of the years from 2015 to 2024. That is 198% of the 2019 level of 12,730. It is still a small beach compared with the big resorts nearby.
