Mulleung Valley is a mountain valley in Samhwa-dong, Donghae, in Korea's Gangwon Province. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, Yongchu Falls is one of the sights in the Mulleung Valley scenic area. It lies about 2.5 km west of Samhwasa Temple (삼화사), which marks the entrance to the valley. Water from Cheongoksan Mountain drops through three jar-shaped rock pools, an upper, a middle and a lower one. This guide pulls together parking, water safety, emergency care and places to stay from public data.

What to see: Yongchu Falls and Ssangpok Falls

The three pools at Yongchu Falls form deep rocky basins. Ssangpok Falls (쌍폭포), the "twin falls", sits 70 m below Yongchu. The tourism organization says water from Yongchu meets water from Bakdal Valley here, and describes the two falls together as the high point of Mulleung Valley.

Visitors to Yongchu Falls usually choose from seven courses. Courses 3 and 4 are described as popular because the walking time is reasonable and there is a lot to see. This data does not give times or distances for each course, so check the signs on site before you set off.

Parking: all three car parks charge a fee

Korea's national parking registry lists three car parks within 3 km of the valley. All three are recorded at 2,000 won for 480 minutes and open from 09:00 to 18:00. There is no free car park within 2 km.

Be careful near the water

If you need a doctor

The nearest emergency rooms are Donghae Dongin Hospital (의료법인동해동인병원), a regional emergency medical institution 12.4 km away, and Donghae Hospital of the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (근로복지공단동해병원), 12.5 km away. Both are a fair distance from the valley, so call 119 first if someone is hurt.

Three pharmacies are listed: Medical 25 Pharmacy (메디칼25시약국) at 6.7 km, Hana Pharmacy (하나약국) at 6.8 km and Grand Pharmacy (그랜드약국) at 9.9 km. All three are recorded as closed on Sundays, so bring basic medicine with you. The Coast Guard number 122 covers accidents on the water, but this data lists no nearby Coast Guard station.

Where to stay and camp

There are 3 licensed lodgings within 3 km: two motels or inns and one other type. Pensions and farm-stay guesthouses are registered under a different system and are not included in this count.

For camping, the nearest sites are Mulleung Valley Healing Camp (무릉계곡 힐링캠프장), a general campsite 2.3 km away; Mirona Garden Glamping (미로나라정원 글램핑장), a general campsite 6.3 km away; and Byeolbidam Camping (별비담캠핑장), an auto-camping site 6.8 km away.
