Jageunhujinhaebyeon Beach (작은후진해수욕장) is a small beach in Samcheok, Gangwon, 1.5 km north of Samcheok City Hall. It runs along the Millennium Coastal Road and sits right next to Samcheok Beach, in front of a low wooded hill and a quiet fishing village. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the sand is 150 m long and the water is about 1 to 1.5 m deep. Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries data lists the beach as 40 m wide. A small harbour next to the beach is one reason it is described as a good fit for families.

It is far quieter than it used to be

Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries figures show 194,766 visitors in 2015 and 194,956 in 2016, the highest year between 2015 and 2024. The count fell to 166,298 in 2017 and 87,117 in 2018, then dropped to 6,038 in 2019. The lowest year was 2020, with 2,696 visitors. Since then it has crept up: 4,750 in 2021, 7,258 in 2022, 7,668 in 2023 and 10,575 in 2024. That is 175% of the 2019 level, but still a small fraction of the 2015 and 2016 numbers. These days the beach is a calm place.

Parking: the nearest car park is 1.73 km away, and all are paid

Korea's national parking registry lists five public car parks within 3 km of the beach. None of them is free: no free car park is registered within 2 km. All five are recorded at 500 won per 30 minutes, with another 500 won for each extra 30 minutes, and open from 09:00 to 18:00.

These are registered details and may differ on site. The tourism office says you can park at Samcheok Beach or the Hujin seawall and walk from there, so check the signs when you arrive.

Is the water clean?

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries tested the seawater 3 times in 2025, and all 3 results were rated suitable. The tourism office says you can swim and snorkel here. Small crabs, limpets and oysters live among the rocks, which makes it a good spot to explore with children. Fishing is possible at the Hujin Harbour breakwater next door.

The nearest emergency room is Samcheok Medical Center (강원특별자치도삼척의료원), a regional emergency medical centre 2.9 km away. The next is Donghae Dongin Hospital (의료법인동해동인병원), a local emergency institution 9.4 km away. Pharmacies are 1.7 km (Hyundai Pharmacy), 1.8 km (Gyodong Pharmacy) and 2.3 km away (Bogeon Pharmacy). Only Bogeon is listed as open on Sundays. In an emergency call 119, or 122 for the Korea Coast Guard if something happens at sea. The nearest coast guard station is Samcheok Station (삼척파출소), 3.3 km away.

Where to stay

There are 62 licensed places to stay within 3 km of the beach: 36 motels and inns, 19 residence-style lodgings, 4 hotels and 3 other types. Pensions and farm-stay minbak are registered under a different system and are not counted here. The tourism office notes that guesthouses and restaurants are close by. For camping, Chuam Auto Camping Ground (추암오토캠핑장) is the closest at 2.0 km. Seongbuk-gu Samcheok Training Center (성북구 삼척수련원), a standard campsite, is 6.8 km away.
