What is Akash Network?
Akash Network is a decentralized compute marketplace where independent infrastructure providers list GPUs and CPUs and users deploy container workloads. When a user specifies a template or container image along with a GPU, region, and maximum price, providers bid in real time, and when the user accepts the best bid, the container runs. It explains that prices are set by a global reverse auction. With AkashML, you can run open-source model inference through an OpenAI-compatible API, and you can also earn revenue by registering spare servers as a provider.
- GPU prices set by automatic bidding in a reverse auction
- AkashML: open-source model inference via an OpenAI-compatible API
- Deploy Docker containers from Akash Console (templates, SDL)
- 1-click templates for Llama 3, DeepSeek, and Stable Diffusion
- Multi-node Ray distributed cluster
- Choose GPUs from H100 and A100 to RTX 5090
- Earn income by registering idle servers as a provider
- Go and JavaScript/TypeScript SDKs and API
Who uses Akash Network and for what
- Rent GPUs for AI training and inference at low cost
- Scale enterprise generative AI inference (Razer case: $0.01 per image)
- Server owners earn income by lending out GPUs and CPUs
