Songjeong Beach is in Haeundae District, Busan. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the sand runs 1.2 km, is 30 to 60 m wide and covers 54,000 square metres, which makes it a fairly large beach. The sand is soft, the slope is gentle and the water is shallow, so it is described as a good choice for families with children. At the entrance, the small island of Jukdo has a dense pine grove and rest areas, and the octagonal Songiljeong pavilion adds to the view.
About half as busy as before the pandemic
Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries figures show 4.70 million visitors in 2015, 4.29 million in 2016, 4.30 million in 2017, 4.49 million in 2018 and 4.14 million in 2019. The count dropped to 1.58 million in 2020 and 1.28 million in 2021. It then rose to 1.97 million in 2022, 2.04 million in 2023 and 2.20 million in 2024. That is 53% of the 2019 level. Within the 2015 to 2024 data, 2021 was the quietest year. The numbers suggest more room than before, but summer weekends can still be crowded, so pick your hours with care.
